Tommy's Malt Shop: In Savage and Chaska, MN

Hi there,

I'm so excited I was finally able to get back into this account. I have several blogs that got left by the wayside when I decided to take my time out almost a year ago.

I've been spending lots of time with my sister out in Rosemount. Our family loves food. We love preparing food, we love eating food, and we love eating out.

Saturday night, we went to Outback Steakhouse but on our way home, we noticed this little place in a strip mall off of 42, called Tommy's Malt Shop.

Yesterday, we were hungry and thinking "dinner!!!"

So I brought it up and we all agreed, so off we went. It's in an easy location to find in spite of being part of a strip mall.

The inside is nothing fancy, pretty basic, but nice. It was clean and cute.

The waitress was nice, asked if we had any questions. The menu is pretty straight forward with lots of favorites for everyone.

I had a Feta Chedda Bacon burger and it was delicious. I always ask for my bacon to be crispy, as in all crispy, no floppy, fatty stuff. It's surprising, very few cooks seem to understand what that means but they got it right the first time at Tommy's.

Ice cream and I don't get along very well so I ordered a half malt, and these are real malts, not shakes. They had a good variety of flavors to choose from and then they had some that combined flavors. I had a coffee, chocolate malt and it was...beyond delicious.

The malts came first and were followed quickly by our dinner order. We didn't wait long at all. If I had one gripe at all, it would be that the fries were nothing to write home about. They weren't bad, don't get me wrong but they weren't awesome, just average fries. It didn't matter though because honestly, the burgers were phenominal.

My sister had a burger as well and was as impressed as I was. My daughter had a turkey bacon club and loved it.

You know a restaurant is good if all three of us like it. Not only did we like it, we loved it and we'll go back!!!
